Your Tasks

  1. Process Optimization and Improvement:
    • Analyse existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
    • Introduce new technologies, tools, and techniques to enhance manufacturing capabilities and meet production targets.
  2. New Product Introduction (NPI):
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, R&D, and production to facilitate the smooth introduction of new products into manufacturing.
    • Provide input during the design phase to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with quality standards.
    • Develop manufacturing plans, process documentation, and production schedules for NPI projects.
  3. Quality Assurance and Control:
    • Establish and maintain quality standards and procedures for manufacturing operations.
    • Implement quality control measures to monitor and inspect product quality at various stages of the production process.
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  4. Cost Reduction and Budget Management:
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process optimization, material utilization improvements, and supplier negotiations.
    • Develop and manage manufacturing budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost targets are met.
    • Implement initiatives to improve cost-effectiveness while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
  5. Supplier Management:
    • Evaluate and select suppliers for critical components and materials, considering factors such as quality, cost, and delivery reliability.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and resolving issues to ensure a smooth supply chain.
    • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  6. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development.
    • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring alignment with team members' skills and expertise.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the manufacturing engineering team.
  7. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines applicable to heavy engineering and fabrications.
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to manufacturing processes and practices to maintain compliance.
  8. Project Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
    • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
  9. Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, driving a culture of operational excellence and efficiency throughout the organization.
    • Encourage and support employee involvement in improvement activities, recognizing and rewarding contributions to process optimization and innovation.
